the Belly Project

Women's bellies are the cradle of all civilization and the source of so much of our pain and insecurities. With the Belly Project I want to explore this complex relationship that we as women have with our bodies by focusing on our stomachs. Scars, stretch marks, flub and ribs all tell the story of our lives. From beauty standards to menstruation, we hold the weight of the world in our abdomen. Our bodies are beautiful in the way that they tell our stories. I want to tell your story. 

For this project I want to take a series of photographs of women's stomachs. They will be shown alongside the woman's age and whatever brief story they would like to tell about themselves, their belly, and their relationship to their body. Participants can choose to be anonymous, use a pseudonym, or have their first name displayed along with their photo. 

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the form below and tell me some about yourself. I am interested in women with scars, stretch marks, postpartum stomach, pregnant women, post menopausal, young and old and every body type, size and color, cis and AMAB. Photo sessions will be held at the photography studio at my home. All participants must be over 18 and will be asked to sign a release form. Final images will be of the abdomen only from the base of the sternum to the top of the pant line so will NOT include any NSFW nudity or faces. 

Photography sessions will be held in groups on Sunday May 17th, Monday June 1st and Saturday June 13th all at 1pm. Please indicate which day you would prefer. You will be contacted ahead of time to confirm and receive the address.
